Acne Treatment – Targeted Care for Clearer, Healthier Skin
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, particularly during adolescence, and can continue into adulthood if not properly managed. It often develops during puberty or menstrual cycles due to hormonal changes that stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce excess oil, known as sebum. When dead skin cells mix with sebum, pores become clogged, creating an environment for Propionibacterium acnes bacteria to grow, leading to inflammation, breakouts, pigmentation, and potential scarring.
At IDO’S Clinic, a trusted Skin, Laser & Aesthetic Clinic in Malaysia, acne treatments are designed to address both active acne and its long-term effects. Treatment plans focus on reducing oil production, controlling bacterial growth, calming inflammation, and improving overall skin texture. With a combination of medical therapies and advanced laser solutions, acne care is customised to suit individual skin conditions for safer, visible results.
How to Treat Acne
Acne treatment may involve one or a combination of the following approaches, depending on severity and skin condition:
-
Oral and/or Topical Antibiotics
Oral and/or topical antibiotics help reduce the colonisation of Propionibacterium acnes, controlling bacterial growth and minimising inflammation associated with acne. -
Prescriptive Topical Acne Creams
Prescriptive topical acne creams are available in various formulations and strengths. These creams help reduce comedones and excess oil production, improve inflammation, and gently exfoliate the skin to prevent pore blockage. -
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are used to clear acne more effectively by exfoliating the skin and unclogging pores. Repeated treatments help prevent pore blockage while levelling out superficial acne scars and improving overall skin clarity. -
Laser Treatment
Laser treatments improve acne in different ways depending on the type of laser used. Generally, lasers help reduce sebaceous gland secretion to minimise oily skin, exfoliate clogged pores, reduce redness from active or chronic inflammation, decrease pore size, and resurface deeper acne scars.
