Odyssey dominated Golf Digest's annual Hot List Issue once again behind category-leading performances from new Metal-X Putters. Metal-X Mallet and Blade Putters both won gold medals in the 2012 Hot List Issue and combined to lead in four putting categories. Metal-X Mallets were selected as the leader in the Performance category for all mallet putters, and Metal-X Blades were chosen as the leader in the Performance category for all blade putters.
Metal-X Mallet Putters received a 5-star rating in all four scoring metrics and earned the best overall score for any Hot List Putter. This model was also selected as the leader in three categories – Performance, Demand, and Look/Sound/Feel – for mallet putters. Metal-X Mallet Putters are offered in a variety of head shapes and shaft lengths that include Belly and Long models, and Hot List panelists raved about the putter's insert. "I've been waiting for an Odyssey Putter with a metal face," said one low-handicap Hot List panel member. "The sound and feel used to be a deal-breaker, but now they've combined the best of both worlds."
Metal-X Mallet and Blade Putters both feature a dual layered insert that provides the crisp feedback of a metal striking force, coupled with amazing feel. The aluminum striking layer's oval depressions maximize the mechanical lock with the golf ball dimples to increase friction and impart proper launch of the golf ball, which in turn creates a much more controlled and consistent roll. Both models also feature a Midnight Black Finish that was added specifically based on feedback gathered from Tour players.
Metal-X Blade Putters earned a 5-star Performance rating in the Hot List Issue and were selected as the leader in Performance for all blade putters. Metal-X Blade Putters also received a 5-star rating in the Look/Sound/Feel category. "It has great pop to the ball and a smoothness of roll unlike anything else," one low-handicap Hot List panel member said. "The balance is flawless. I'm getting giddy putting with this."
ProType Tour Series Blade and Mallet Putters were recognized in the 2012 Hot List as well. "The roll is one of the purest I've experienced," a low-handicap panel member said of the blade model. For the mallet model, one panelist noted, "The ball hugs the ground like it has four-wheel drive; it rolls so well. You've got to hand it to Odyssey for always trying to reinvent the 2-ball." ProType Tour Series Putters feature Tour headshapes that help promote a smooth stroke, and the Odyssey design team used extensive feedback from Tour Pros to enhance the look, performance and feel for these models.
