Ahead of its highly anticipated Malaysian launch this February, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV has completed an impressive fuel economy and range challenge. This time, the journey spanned Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Over three days, the J7 PHEV traveled 1,427.5 KM from Singapore to Hatyai, Thailand, on just a single full tank and charge, exceeding its claimed 1,200 KM WLTP range by over 200 KM.

Of the total distance, 947 KM was powered by petrol alone, achieving An impressive fuel efficiency of 3.5 litres per 100 KM—significantly better than the claimed rate of 6.6 litres per 100 KM. Additionally, the J7 PHEV managed a purely electric driving range of 108 KM, surpassing its official figure by 18 KM.



This achievement is thanks to the advanced Super Hybrid System (SHS) powering the J7 PHEV. The system includes a 1.5-litre TGDi engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), and an 18.3-kWh battery. The SHS balances fuel efficiency with strong performance, delivering a combined output of 342 HP (255 kW) and 525 NM of torque.



Despite its powerful performance, the J7 PHEV maintains low fuel consumption at just 3.3 litres per 100 KM. It also supports fast charging, with DC charging (40 kW) allowing the battery to go from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
