Top 10 Best-Selling Cars in Malaysia 2024: Perodua Claims Top 3!

09-Jan-2025

Perodua leads by a wide margin in car registrations, based on data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ). It’s no surprise that most of Perodua’s models dominate the top 10 best-selling cars in Malaysia.
According to JPJ data, the Bezza was the most registered car last year, with 100,814 units sold. Following closely are the Axia (88,137 units) and Myvi (72,214 units), giving Perodua a clean sweep of the top three spots.

In fourth place is the Proton Saga with 69,863 units sold. Perodua continues its strong showing with the Alza (44,374 units) in fifth place and the Ativa (36,039 units) in sixth.

In seventh place is the Honda City with 29,246 units sold, ahead of the Toyota Vios, which takes eighth place with 28,667 units. However, JPJ combines the sales figures for both the sedan and hatchback versions of the City as one model, so Toyota’s total for B-segment models would be 39,377 units if we add the Yaris (10,710 units).

In ninth place is the Toyota Hilux, the only pick-up truck on the top 10 list, with 26,738 units sold. Completing the top 10 is the Proton X50, which recorded 22,674 units. The X50’s mid-2024 update helped it stay ahead of the Honda HR-V in 11th place with 21,303 units sold.

With the top 10 best-selling cars showcasing strong competition among leading brands like Perodua, Proton, Honda, and Toyota, it's clear that the Malaysian car market remains dynamic. As consumer preferences shift and new models hit the market, these brands are poised to continue their battle for dominance. One thing is certain—the race to the top is far from over, and the future of Malaysia's automotive industry looks as competitive as ever.
