Proton has finally added Apple CarPlay to its cars, a feature many have been waiting for, especially after the launch of the Atlas OS on the Proton X50 and other models.
The first car to get Apple CarPlay is the new 2025 Proton X70 facelift, just as Proton promised before its release. From October 16th, owners of this model can activate Apple CarPlay by installing a simple over-the-air (OTA) update. Instructions are provided below.
There’s no news yet on whether the Proton X90, S70, or the recently launched X50 RC will get this feature. It’s expected that CarPlay will come to these models eventually, but it might take some time. The same goes for official Android Auto support, which could arrive later.
Good news for iPhone users! Proton has shared simple steps to install the OTA update for the 2025 X70. They’ve also posted a video on Facebook showing how to do it, making the process easy to follow.
Once the update is available, it will download automatically, but you’ll need to keep the engine running during the process. After the download is complete, you can install the update whenever it’s convenient, but make sure the engine stays on until the installation ends.
To confirm the update was successful, go to Vehicle Settings > System Information > About IHU. The latest version, SW3RBA10925H1141, includes Apple CarPlay, improved system performance, and bug fixes for a smoother experience.
After the update, you can use Apple CarPlay by connecting your iPhone via USB or Bluetooth. Once paired, simply tap the Apple CarPlay icon on the screen to start enjoying its features. To use Apple CarPlay, connect your iPhone with a USB cable or Bluetooth. Once connected, tap the Apple CarPlay icon on the screen to start using it.
