Professional shuttler Lee Zii Jia suffered an unexpected defeat to left-handed player Magnus Johannesen of Denmark in the first round of the French Open. Zii Jia, ranked world No. 10, lost 15-21, 19-21 in 41 minutes to the world No. 33. Despite beating Johannesen convincingly a year ago, Zii Jia struggled this time, citing impatience and unforced errors. Johannesen, delighted with his revenge, praised his performance and looked forward to facing Shi Yuqi next. In the women's doubles, both Malaysian pairs were eliminated. In the upcoming matches, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei will play in mixed doubles, while the men's doubles pairs face tough opponents from India and Taiwan in the last 16 matches.
