In the wake of the devastating gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights on April 1, 2025, Chery Corporate Malaysia has initiated a vehicle loan program to support affected families. The explosion resulted in significant damage, with reports indicating that 78 houses were severely damaged, 10 shop lots destroyed, and 327 vehicles affected.



To assist those who lost their means of transportation, Chery’s program offers 50 vehicles on loan, providing temporary mobility solutions. This initiative aims to help residents regain stability and access essential services during the recovery period.

Chery is working in collaboration with the Selangor Menteri Besar’s office (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari), the Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade, and Mobility (YB Ng Sze Han), and local authorities to coordinate this effort. The program will run for a designated period, giving families the necessary time to arrange permanent transportation solutions.



The Putra Heights explosion, caused by a gas pipeline leak, triggered a massive fireball that injured over 100 people and led to the evacuation of nearby homes. The fire department reported that 190 houses and 148 cars were damaged.
