NE40E Series Overview

The NetEngine 40E series universal service routers are high-end network products launched by Huawei. They mainly serve as edge nodes on IP backbone networks, IP metro networks, and large-scale IP networks.

Leveraging distributed hardware-based forwarding and non-blocking switching technologies, the NetEngine 40E series features line-rate forwarding capabilities, excellent scalability, and strong service processing capabilities. To implement reliable service transport, the series supports various services and flexible deployment of L2VPN, L3VPN, multicast, multicast VPN, MPLS TE, EVPN, Segment Routing-MPLS (SR-MPLS), Segment Routing IPv6 (SRv6), Flexible Ethernet (FlexE), and QoS. It also supports various value-added services, such as GRE tunneling, IPsec tunneling, and NetStream. In addition, the NetEngine 40E series fully supports IPv6 and smooth transition from IPv4 to IPv6, driving transport networks' evolution towards broadband, diversification, and intelligence. As a carrier-grade platform that integrates user management and service control, this series supports user-specific service management to meet differentiated requirements.

The NetEninge 40E series includes devices that are applicable to networks of different scales: NetEninge 40E-X16A, NetEninge 40E-X8A.

• Provides a 2T routing line card per slot based on an industry-leading 2T platform, meeting future requirements for bandwidth growth.

• Fully compatible with existing IPv6 networks, simplifying protocols, network configurations, and VPN implementation.

Innovative Hard Slicing for Service Isolation

• Hard isolation: divides an Ethernet physical interface into multiple slices through hard slicing, achieving hard isolation of service bandwidth and meeting differentiated SLA requirements.

Intelligent O&M, Moving Towards Autonomous Driving Networks

• Innovative In-situ Flow Information Telemetry (iFIT) technology: enables in-band flow detection within milliseconds, accurately restores service paths, and works with iMaster NCE to implement correlation analysis for service experience and network KPIs, allowing faults to be intelligently demarcated within minutes.
• Efficient O&M: supports RFC 2544- and Y.1564-compliant tests for measuring network performance through simulated and self-sent packets, as well as one-click automated O&M tools, helping carriers simplify O&M and minimize OPEX.
